My fault..

I said I may have jinxed Roy Halladay in my last post and it is looking like I did. Despite him throwing a complete game, giving up only two earned runs and four hits he came out on the wrong end of a 2-0 game picking up only his fourth loss of the year.  I can’t tell you how frustrated I was watching that game.  I was so frustrated I couldn’t even muster up the desire to post on this blog after the game.

Today was much better, however, as the Jays battled back from a 3-1 deficit to win 10-6 on the back of Bengie Molina’s grand slam.  Go figure, no runs the day before and then they put up ten today!  Going into this series, if I had to put money on what game they would win I would have picked the game in which Roy Halladay started.  It turns out that was the only game they lost.  Baseball is a funny game sometimes.

Boston lost again to Seattle and now the Jays are only two games back of the Red Sox for second place in the East.  Now to some of you this is no big deal as the Red Sox are not holding on to a playoff spot at the moment but given the Jays have finished behind the Red Sox season after season, finishing ahead of them in the standings would be nice.  The White Sox beat the Twins today so the Jays also gained a game in the wildcard race (7.5 games back now).

The Blue Jays are now off to Cleveland for a three game set against the Tribe.  A.J. Burnett starts tomorrow and hopes to continue his string of quality starts.  Boston’s road trip doesn’t get any easier with a trip to Oakland while the Yankees have a night off before returning to New York to face the Central leading Tigers.

gut check time for the Jays if they are to get back into the race they need to beat the teams they are supposed to, I hope someone makes the yanks sweat a little before the playoffs

The Jays have to pass the Red Sox before they do anything else. Big four game set at the end of the week in Fenway! I guess we’ll be mortal enemies for those four days (just kidding).
