O's Up Next

The Jays open up a four-game series against Baltimore tonight.  I must say that my attention will very much be divided as my Oilers begin the Stanley Cup finals tonight in Raleigh against the Hurricanes.  However, I will be using the Picture-in-Picture function to keep my eye on the Jays.

Ted Lilly gets the call tonight and looks to turn his fortunes around after two shaky starts.  Daniel Cabrera gets the start for the Orioles. The Jays have put up good numbers on Mr. Cabrera and this is his first start after a stint on the DL with a sore shoulder.  It looks good for the Jays tonight but they faced Tampa's version of Josh Towers yesterday (Doug Waechter) and a lot of good that did!

If you get a chance tonight or in the next few days, read the Jays mailbag column: Jays Mailbag

There is a very interesting question sent in by a fan about whether Troy Glaus has been worth giving up the defense of Orlando Hudson.  I'd have to say that this really isn't a difficult question to answer after two short months.  The Jays are a completely different team with Glaus in the line-up.  His power has enabled Wells to see some better pitches, his defence has been nothing to complain about, his leadership abilities are obvious and Aaron Hill provided steady defence at second while he played there and Alfonzo is no slouch with the glove now.  Orlando Hudson is currently batting .242 with 2 Homeruns and 17 RBIs which pales in comparison to Glaus' .267 average, 17 homeruns and 42 RBIs.  Don't get me wrong, I loved watching Hudson play and he had an amazing attitude but you can't say that the Jays would be a better team with him instead of Troy Glaus in the lineup.  Ideally we'd have both in the lineup but you have to trade value to get value in return and I believe this trade has helped both teams.
